Everything you want to know about foam
  • Extruded Polyethylyne

Polyethylene foam is a durable, lightweight, resilient, closed-cell material available in a wide range of densities and colors. It is often used for packaging and material handling applications due to its excellent vibration dampening and insulation properties as well as its high resistance to chemicals and moisture.

Easily fabricated and assembled into a wide array of configurations it has a large selection of colors and densities to include those with antistatic properties.
GWEP stocks a full range of extruded PE products from 1lb to 9lb.
We are also the exclusive distributor of Nomaco Profiles. These profiles provide a cost effective level of protection without the extra step of fabrication.

  • Polyester Polyurethane

Polyurethane Foams have many uses but they are particularly suitable for packaging lightweight objects. These foams are ideal for multiple-impact protection because they absorb impact efficiently and recover their physical shape quickly and can do it repeatedly.

This is an open-celled, flexible polyurethane foam ranging in density from 1.5# density to 6# density. It is available in anti-static and fire retardant formulations, and meets the MIL-P-26514 and UL-94 specifications.
Polyurethane foam is an open-celled, flexible foam ranging in density from 1.5# density to 8# density. It is available in anti-static and fire retardant formulations, and can be formulated meet the MIL-PRF-26514, Cal-117, MVSS302, UL-94, and the FAR 25.853(a) specifications.

  • cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE)

Cross-linked Polyethylene Foam is high density closed cell foam characterized by a compact feel and resistance to water that enables the material to be fabricated, thermoformed or compression molded in many ways. It has many of the same properties as polyethylene foam but also has the ability to protect class "A" surfaces and is used extensively the packaging of medical products and equipment.

The crosslinking of polyethylene ties all the polymer molecules together. Because the molecules are tied together, they aren’t easily torn apart from each other. Crosslinking makes both elastomers and plastics stronger, improving the physical properties such as tensile, elongation, and tear strength.
Additionally, XLPE offers excellent dynamic cushioning and meets the requirements for "Class A" surface protection.
A "Class A" surface is defined as any exposed part of an automobile interior or exterior. The packaging used in the production, handling, and delivery of these parts must not in any way affect the quality of the product. The parts must remain in the same condition as when originally produced. This includes visual defects such as stains, burns, scrapes, excess surface roughness, discoloration etc.
We stock a variety of XLPE products from 1.3lb per cubic foot up to the heaviest in the industry at 15lb per cubic foot.

  • Expanded Polypropylene / Polyethylene (EPP/EPE)

Manufactured exclusively by ARPLANK, these foams feature a range of molded products often referred to as beaded foam. Expanded polypropylene products (EPP) are used extensively in automotive and packaging applications where durability, multiple impact resistance and other demanding performance challenges must be met.

Expanded Polyethylene (EPE) is one of the premier packaging foam materials available today. and is ideal for applications requiring resiliencies, non-abrasive surface, and outstanding cushioning for multiple impact energy management.
Both of these products offer superior cushioning ability at half the density as compared to extruded PE. Available from 1.0 lb density up to 2.8lb density. It is an ideal material for many expendable packaging applications.

  • Zotefoams Plastazote

This foam is a nitrogen- charged cross linked polyethylene foam that has increased tear strength while being lightweight. This foam is available in almost any color. This foam is an excellent choice for case inserts and tool kits as it is impervious to most chemicals. Available in a wide range of densities and is also available
